OIL PRODUCT SEPARATORS (TRAPS)

Plants are designed to separate and / or catch oil products from the surface (rainwater) reclaimed sewage water and manufacturing reclaimed sewage water. Oil traps operate in gravitational principle by separating heavier water from the lighter oil products. An oil trap must be installed in each petrol station, car wash, parking lot or other location where leaks of oil products may be possible. Most importantly, the quantity of pollutants in the water, after cleaning, would not exceed 5 mg/l. All oil traps must have CE marking.

OIL TRAPS

Oil traps SEPKO are used in petrol stations, car washes, repair services, parking lots, garages, industrial companies – for separating oil products from rain (surface run-off water) and industrial wastewater. Oil products are separated from chemically composed stable emulsions and dissolved parts of oil products are not separated.

The most reliable oil product separation technology used by SEPKO is coalescent modules. This technology is internationally recognized and is considered to be the most efficient gravitational separation method for oil products. From the beginning of the year 2007, the housing of SEPKO oil separator is made of extremely durable double-layer polyethylene. The main advantage is that the unit can be mounted even at a sufficiently deep depth from the surface of the ground without the use of additional reinforcements, i.e. concrete casing or load bearing plates made of concrete. This reduces the cost and time of installing the oil separator.

OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLE OF SEPKO OIL TRAP

The flow of contaminated wastewater through the inflow pipe (1) first enters the dirt settler zone (2) where large particles of oil products and solid pollutants are separated. Then, water flow from the dirt settler is directed through the coalescence modules (3). At this stage, as the water flow flows in a horizontal direction through the coalescence module, droplets of oil products as they rise up contact with the oleophilic material of the module and are retained. As they merge with other droplets, they become larger and rise and accumulate on the surface of the trap due to gravity. The mechanical pollutants accumulating on the coalescence bundles slip down to the bottom of the reservoir due to gravity. This feature of self-cleaning significantly reduces the service frequency of coalescent modules. Purified (cleaned) water flows out of the outlet (5). The oil products accumulated on the surface of the water are sucked up during service of the equipment (unit) or moved to a separate oil storage tank with the help of special skimmers. Each SEPKO oil trap is equipped with an automatic safety valve (4) that is packaged so that it would float in water and sink in the oil product. When the oil product accumulates on the surface of the water, the float descends and, when the thickness of layer of oil reaches the maximum allowable limit, it closes the drain from the oil separator.

The oil separator (trap) SEPKO has no moving and wearable parts, therefore the unit is durable and very easy (simple) to service. SEPKO oil separators use a unique coalescence technology for separation of oil products. This technology is internationally recognized and considered to be one of the most effective methods for separating gravitational oil products on the market. Due to the coalescent structure of the material there is no risk of clogging with solid contaminants, sludge and organic material.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

Level alarm

At the customer’s request, oil separators SEPKO can be supplied with automatic level alarm, which can be connect to up to 3 sensors, measuring the level of accumulated oil products, level of liquid or level of sludge. The alarm sends notification / signal if the determined limit of the level is reached. See separate instruction for more details.

Flow distribution and sampling wells

SEPKO oil separators can also be supplied with flow distribution and sampling wells. Excess rainwater during rainfall is routed through the bypass line. About 30% of the total flow is directed to the separator and the remaining water runs through the bypass line.

CERTIFICATES

Oil traps SEPKO are tested according to requirements of standard LST EN 858-1. During tests, it was determined that the residual amount of oil products in the treated wastewater did not exceed 5 mg/l. This confirms that efficiency of oil traps SEPKO meets the requirements for class 1 of oil product separators (traps).
